The Watchmen film looks to be a completely ridiculous undertaking. There, I’ve said it. I’ve been avoiding posting anything Watchmen related. Oh sure, I’d have loved to have posted a comment here and there, but thanks to every other movie/media site on the net, well, I just haven’t been able to bring myself to add to the silly fray that is Watchmen hype.
But then, well, there’s this (images below the cut):
The more I see from this film, the more I come to believe Moore is right. I could be completely wrong. Perhaps this will turn out to be (at least partially) the groundbreaking superhero film that Moore’s graphic novel was to his genre. But I’m doubting it daily.

Dear God…this is going to be a disaster. Snyder is completely missing the point I think. The point was that the costumes looked ridiculous because, in reality, the idea of people dressing up in costumes to fight crime WOULD be ridiculous. For the film, it just looks like the visual guys are trying to make it look retro-cool…and failing miserably.
I mean, come on….did we really need the furry collar on Nite Owl’s “Antarctica suit?”
Goddamn the horror!
The Nite Owl costume is bad. No arguing with that. But the first image (especially Captain Nazi Shorts) makes me want to lie down in the middle of a busy highway. This movie is going to succeed where recent horror movies have failed. It’s going to cause me to lose large amounts of sleep.

“Captain Nazi Shorts”
